Sharing the Medicine: The Journey Back to Innocence from a Life of Tragic Loss and Trauma

Twenty-three years ago today I lost a beloved friend when we were ambushed by bullets in a drive-by shooting the media portrayed as a "botched robbery" in beautiful Balboa Park, San Diego, California.  My friend, John, and I had spent almost the whole day together, attending two plays at The Old Globe Theater where we were apprentices, playing chess and drinking cafe lattes in between shows. Had we been aware of anything other than our reconciliation we would have noticed the pickup truck which drove by three times before targeting us as we walked back across the bridge to our parked cars after the last show and closing party.

I spent the following Christmas in Creede, Colorado with John's family and learned to laugh again even as I wrestled with why I had survived the shooting and what for. I knew then that I had to shed the old escape routes which I had become accustomed to before I even became a teenager thirteen years before. I somehow knew deep in my bones that I couldn't keep numbing my pain, that I was being called to minister and that that required letting go of some old habits. Thinking back, as I recall, it was after I'd gone to church with his family and we were out having dinner or drinks that I was feeling the wisdom of my soul urging me to stay sober to think these thoughts thorough, and to really be in my body and feel the emotions and pain in order to let them go; that this embodiment was the way to release myself from suffering.

The Invitation

~ by Oriah Mountain Dreamer

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.

It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain. I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.

Receptive Feeling: Releasing Perceptions of What is Abnormal

By Rev. Dhyana Kluth
As I gaze out upon the snow falling upon the decaying leaves and the cemetery behind our back yard and prepare for ceremony tomorrow, I ponder upon the conundrum of grief in our culture. I won't explore why we fear it here but to be sure we do. My aim is less analytical than to offer you permission to loose the chains, to feel and express your divine being freely.

Whether we have suffered a sustained barrage of stressful stimuli over a long period of time or a sudden shock, you can be sure our bodies have experienced trauma.  Grief is the way we begin to heal our bodies, realign with our soul purpose and bring ourselves back into balance.

In this American culture we are expected to keep it together, to not fall apart. There is something wrong with even that language and description because not only are we not meant to contain energy but there is nothing about us that breaks when we grieve and howl with pain and release our tears. On the contrary, when we halt the flow of our grief, we stop the process of healing from trauma and stop the flow of our energy to give birth to new manifestations in our lives.

Even without directly being told we cannot grieve our pain and loss, in this culture, we grow up learning it. It becomes ingrained in our body systems that we must hold on and control and tame our wild nature.

Honoring Grief After Thanksgiving

During this season of Thanksgiving.  There is a grief that comes in remembering the celebration of family that my mother prepared. There has been an empty place at the table for the past two years and we miss her presence even though she could be irritating and annoying at family events. She liked to be the center of attention. When I first started Womb Awakening, I would see the face of a Crone with an open mouth with words on the tip of her tongue. It was the Voice of the Mother, the voice of all my ancestors.

Releasing the Sword to Reclaim the Waters of Birth

10/30/2016

By CarolMarie Fiorito, Aine Cailleach & Dhyana Kluth
The Lady of the Lake is steeped in a rich history of stories told from a patriarchal prospective, of the wounded warriors turning against the heroine who offered the sword that saved and protected a kingdom.  Hidden within the myth, there is the older story of one who protects the feminine waters.  As she receives the deadly sword, The Lady of the Lake restores balance in the world. By dissolving the wounded masculine's call to arms, a kingdom at war becomes a queendom of peace.

Now this feminine energy is re-emerging with her story and her balm. We are understanding the real story of the Ladies of the Lake who are now returning as we awaken to birth a new Earth. They are the breaking waters of this beautiful birth.

A great shift is occurring. We can feel it in our wombs when we tune in and feel everything unfolding around the world. We see it everywhere in the obvious and the subtle.

INTO THE EYE OF A HORSE

During the opening ceremony of the Fountain of Life Womb of New Earth Retreat, I was initiated into a deep Shamanic Journey by The Eye of the Horse. It was nighttime, and we gathered in a circle to grieve for Gaia, to release the pain of Gaia and her children and afterwards to receive messages from the Spirit of the Aniyunwiya, the Ancient Cherokee tribe who were once here in the Great Mother Mountain of Appalachia where we gathered. I went into a deep visionary experience….

What About The Divine Masculine?

I want to share a blog post here from The Fountain of Life about a story my husband wrote.  The article discusses the journey of the wounded masculine which is important to heal. Without tending to the divine masculine we cannot hope to restore and anchor the divine feminine within ourselves and on this planet.

Fred Kluth's story poignantly reveals the archetypal, ancestral, mythic and personal struggles of man's war and his separation from love. With these insights we can have empathy for ourselves and each other, and deepen our sacred relationship to the divine masculine.

I'm grateful to intelligent people. That doesn't mean educated. That doesn't mean intellectual. I mean really intelligent. What black old people used to call 'mother wit' means intelligence that you had in your mother's womb. That's what you rely on. You know what's right to do.
